Women in Leadership Detroit

Empowering Women. Advancing Hospitality. Strengthening Community.

Women in Leadership Detroit was founded to create a space where women in hospitality and tourism can network, learn, grow, and lead together. Since our inception, we have been dedicated to fostering professional development, mentorship, and community engagement, helping women across industries connect and thrive.

Our story began in 2015 with a small but powerful group of 10 women leaders in hospitality. Recognizing a need for diversity, inclusion, and professional development, our Chairperson, Shonda Isaac, envisioned an organization that would support and elevate women in the industry. The concept for Women in Leadership Detroit was born in 2013-2014, with a mission to develop future leaders and create meaningful opportunities for growth.

In our early years, we partnered with local organizations to provide volunteer opportunities and give back to the community. While our initial focus was on hospitality, we have since expanded our reach to include restaurants, museums, tourism, and other complementary industries—embracing the diverse landscape of Detroit’s leadership.

Today, we continue to inspire, support, and connect women in leadership through impactful events, networking opportunities, and community initiatives. We invite you to be part of our journey. Explore, engage, and grow with us.
